Company Background
Founded in 1997, WeSync provides synchronization solutions for groups to share, access and seamlessly update calendars and contact information. The Portland, Oregon-based company is backed by venture capital and individual investors.
Market Focus
WeSync Personal 1.5, the company's free web-based service, lets groups of two or more users share calendars and contacts on Palm OS handheld devices and PCs, and instantly sync updates to all group members. It is ideal for multi-site companies or frequently traveling business groups such as sales account teams, medical offices, consulting groups and other mobile professionals. Information entered on handheld devices or desktop PIMs is automatically synchronized so that all group members have the scheduling changes or new contact information.
How It Works
At the core of the company's patent-pending group synchronization technology is its unique GroupShare™ architecture, which allows sharing via any handheld device or PC using either wireline or wireless access. Users can select calendars or contacts to be shared with the group either as read-only or fully shared files; only the specified data is shared with the group. It integrates seamlessly with other PIM applications such as Outlook and Lotus Notes. Another important feature of the GroupShare™ architecture is the ability to create and view multiple calendars.
In addition, WeSync' patented Wireless Refresh™ technology gives mobile professionals using a Palm VII or modem-equipped Palm V a highly efficient and cost-effective sync solution. Unlike most other synchronization technologies, WeSync's has been designed from the ground up for wireless, leveraging the device's wireless capabilities to perform narrow bandwidth syncs. This lets the user keep his or her information up-to-date without taxing the device's processing capabilities or incurring costly connection fees.
